We are not just serving food – we are supporting high productivity

My name is Vibol and I have been working as a Site Chef at Tasty Bites Catering Co., Ltd. for over two years. I truly enjoy my role, largely because of the strong support from management and the level of empowerment I receive. As a Site Chef, I am trusted to make on-the-spot decisions, manage menus, and lead my team. At first, the responsibility was challenging, but over time, I’ve grown to really enjoy it.

This is what a typical day looks like for me:

I start my day at 6:00 AM at the assigned site. My first task is to check the readiness of ingredients, equipment, and daily supplies, while also identifying any irregularities at the site.

Once everything is inspected, I ensure that all team members have arrived on time, are properly dressed in uniform, and are ready for our morning briefing. During this session, I highlight the menu for the day and communicate any special instructions from the client or customer care team.

After the briefing, we begin food preparation, dividing tasks into categories such as vegetables, meat, rice cooking, and desserts. Most of my team members are well-trained, which makes operations smoother. However, I closely guide new staff during their first few days to ensure they meet our standards.

My key responsibility is to ensure that all food is prepared to the highest quality and delivered on time to support the client’s operations. Our management consistently emphasizes the importance of preparation and efficiency—we are part of our client’s productivity, not just their food service provider.

Once the food is ready, I review the portioning and counting system, ensuring everything runs smoothly during service.

After service, the team handles cleaning and packing equipment. While their workday ends, mine continues. I review the next day’s menu, coordinate with the customer care team regarding any changes or special requirements, and place orders for the following day’s supplies.

Finally, I wrap up my day and head home. What I enjoy most about working in the food industry is that every day brings new experiences and learning opportunities.
